What happens when someone takes in the best of the GM Stormbringer and GM Turbulence?

Did we mention it's in a 1/60 Large scale Perfect Grade ;)

We present this week's feature on Nathaniel Barrera's PG RX-78-1 Full Armor,

Champion on the Open Course Category for the Otaku ME Modelers Cup 2018!

"My PG Full Armor RX-78-1 was the result of tedious research and build combination. It was also a build that needs to out-do the previous perfect grade build, The PG GM Cannon which for me sets my (personal) standard high. it was a very difficult challenge.... "

"The inspiration came when i saw a kit with an interesting color combination which is green-light green and looked for a mobile suit which i like and looked for a ms variation and challenge myself to step out my comfort zone. Using a color combination which I rarely use, my motivation to is to upgrade my new learned set of skills , using not to many kit bashed part but instead using scratch-built parts and detail it.

Its more of a personal build that i envisioned and to have one built is like an accomplished mission. From the parts, to the color combinations even the decals I designed and printed overseas were all personalized according to my build and preferences."

"I like to build something close to what I love, envisioned , budget and my personal reference because it gives the build more of my personal touch, design and overall impact. In other words..I own my build, Its me..It reflects the sleepless night and creative mind poured into one model kit. As you know, time is not on my side (due to one day off every week) but I've managed to find a way to use my time wisely.

I always try to learn everyday from the simplest to the most advance on what i can absorb, Everyday is a learning curve in which I would like to impart to future builders. "

The challenging part of building was..how and when to start. Concept build is really important for us builders to have that focus and aim on what you are aiming to finish, the physical look and the overall impact. The adjustments, plus or minus ..those are the factors affecting ones build, but in the end if your "into" the build..its like designing your own mecha in real life.

For the tools, I only used the very basic ones nothing too fancy just the cheap ones and generic tools. My basic cutter, side cutter and pla-plates are mostly what I use. I often received a lot of pm before asking me the same question. even though you have every tools in your workstation from chisels to pin vise to paint stuffs etc...in the end , its the skills that matters.

It is important to use the very basic ones , from there try to advance.

"If you start a build project, finish it no matter what. Always struggle to improve, find new ways of leveling up. Be creative and have an open mind in criticism. Own the build as if its your own creation, name it to your nearest love one or something. never give up on joining contest if you fail to win at first. Most important of all...Family first. Pray before going to sleep and thank god for giving you such talent.

Be very humble. feet on the ground.always.

I am Nathaniel Barrera (Ver.Nath) an architect by profession and old timer modeler/builder. child at heart."
