Otaku ME Mini 4WD Grand Prix 2019 – Stage Three Review
We are now halfway through the Otaku ME Grand Prix tournament. Six contenders for the coveted championship are on standby and are awaiting six more rivals. Stage 3 definitely shifted the difficulty to a higher gear this time around and that is just a glimpse of what’s to come.
The third stage of the Otaku ME Grand Prix kicked off at the Times Square Center on the 22nd of June. Over 45 racers and 135 cars were registered all hoping to bring home the trophy and get the chance to represent the UAE in the World Championship in Japan.
Stage 3 definitely surprised everyone in attendance with its difficulty. Several danger zones were added to the track in order to show glimpses of the obstacles that they will be facing in the final race.
The competition caught the attention of onlookers and mall-goers as the cars went blazing on the race track. Children and kids at heart got their adrenaline pumping with every lap. The Otaku ME Grand Prix definitely helped with the growing popularity of the hobby in the region.
For this Stage, the racers had to conquer the Fallout track. It was arguably one of the most difficult track we have ever laid out. The sudden turns at every corner meant that the race could be over in an instant with all cars flying out right from the get-go. The weird angles of the track destabilized the cars which resulted in early crashes. The track also included a jump with only one receiver which proved quite tricky for the racers to get past.
Now that we are in the second half of this year-long tournament, the competition is definitely getting more intense. With the courses getting more difficult, the racers are stepping up their game in order to qualify. Otaku ME's goal is to sharpen the racers' skills and get them on par with racers from overseas.
Those who rose above the challenges and were victorious are now one step closer to the ultimate prize.
Champion: Ronald Dumpit
1st Place: Clarissa Bertumen
2nd Place: Mario Santos
During this Stage, Otaku ME has implemented a stricter inspection policy on using copy and non-tamiya parts. As the official distributor of Tamiya in the region, we strongly advocate fair play and honesty in all of our events.
As an added surprise, Otaku ME announced that all 2nd placers in any of our Grand Prix races will be included in a wild card race and to participate in the final race which will determine our ultimate champion.
Stage 4 of the Otaku ME Grand Prix is set on the 27th of July in Times Square Center, Dubai. Registration is now open at the Otaku ME store located near Noor Bank metro station.
