Hi everyone! We've decided to add a new series of blog posts to show the current builds we're working on here at Otaku ME.  We hope you find this series of posts interesting, informative, and most of all fun! I'm currently building the High Grade Gaeon from Reconguista in G.  I wasn't sure which kit I should build after finishing the Dahack, so we asked our social media followers on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for their thoughts on whether is should be Gaeon or Elf Bullock and we didn't get a single vote for Elf Bullock!  Haha!  So here I am building your choice: Gaeon! IMG_0788 I didn't take any photos of the steps to build the head, so here's one of the finished head instead.  Like many things in Reconguista in G, the look of the eyes is very different that what I'm used to. IMG_0789 The lower part of the torso is simply made by sandwiching the skirt's pivot joint in the front and back parts. IMG_0785 Here's the back panel before panel lining. IMG_0786 What I love about panel lining an unpainted kit is that the process is VERY forgiving.  I purposefully flood the panel links with ink from my panel lining pen before wiping the excess off. IMG_0787 Et voila!  Looks nice and clean after all the excess ink is wiped off leaving it only in the panel line recesses. IMG_0790 The newly panel lined back part simply connects to the top of the torso base like this. IMG_0791 The center chest piece fits in snugly! IMG_0792 Two polycaps go in next for the arm attachments later on.  Once they're in, the final parts of the upper torso can be attached: the sides of the chest. IMG_0793 Now that the upper torso is done, the head can be attached.  It's starting to shape up!  Skirt build next. IMG_0822 The back of the skirt is a simple large piece that connects to the core via a small hinge.  This allows the rear part to pivot. Did some panel lining on this part too. IMG_0823 The skirt sides, strangely enough, snap in from the bottom instead of the usual top or side! IMG_0824 The front skirt is the typical single piece kind. IMG_0825 A common easy modification is to cut the front skirt into two parts using your cutters. I decided to go for it for this build. IMG_0826 I've found from previous builds that cutting the front skirt sometimes makes them very loose in their sockets, so my trick is to use a very small amount of mounting tack on the newly cut parts to give them more support. IMG_0828 Here's the finished skirt. IMG_0827 As you can see here, the front skirt parts can now move independently because of the small modification. IMG_0829 Here's the head, torso, and skirt all done! That's it for Part 1 of the HG Gaeon build!  Stay tuned for Part 2 soon. I personally really love the mobile suit designs of Reconguista in G.  What about you?  Have you built any?  Which ones are your favorite?  Let's hear your thoughts in the comments!
