A treat to post- apocalyptic sci-fi series fans! OtakuME adding another series to our vast model kit selections, the Maschinen Krieger – Zbv3000 or most popularly known in the modelling world as Ma.K.
A little bit of history, the Maschinen Krieger started out as a small promotional run in the early 1980’s for a hobby magazine in Japan. Artist and sculptor Kow Yokoyama created the models for the series and drew a lot of his inspirations from World War I & II, and the influences of Star Wars, Blade Runner and The Road Warrior. Including the model building styles of ILM model builders. Kit-bashing from different available model kits during the early days to produce an original model, that eventually led to the production of unique model kits. A great example for the kit-bashed base model is the Pkf. 85 FALKE Antigravity Armored Raider.
The uniqueness of the model kit silhouette actually came from various model kits, such as the 2-twin extended engine boom from a 1/32 scale P-38 Lightning, the main body from a 1/24 Toyota S800 model kit. The most notable feature from the FALKE would be the engine shape that actually came from the simplest material, a “Yakult bottle”, and the antigravity domes from ping pong balls. It just goes to show that there are no boundaries in creativity in our hobby.
