1/144 HGUC Rick Dias Review
Posted on
Pros:
- Kind of an easy model kit to build. The general aspects of the assembled kit are good, and aesthetically looks good.
- This is a sticker less model kit. Yes it does not come with any sticker and that does not affect the appearance of the assembled Rick Dias at anyway.
- The Rick Dias has a cool gimmick in which is upper piece of the head can be pulled up revealing the vulcans.
- Articulation wise, the head can rotate 360 degrees. However, the parts on the sides collide with the head limiting the head's rotation to 45 degrees to the lef and right. but a full head rotation can be achieved by removing the parts or forcing the head to rotate. The arms goes 90 degrees to the sides with 360 degrees twist. arms bends slightly above 90 degrees. front skirts move all the way up. The legs bends and moves forward slightly below 90 degrees. The feet have slight movement ability. Generally a good amount of articulation is presented as this is a very old model kit.
- A good amount of accessories is provided. it comes with one set of holding hands that have 1 articulated finger to holding the weapons which a unique feature. Also, comes with two beam pistols which can be stored on the backpack, A bazooka launcher, and a green beam saber.
Cons:
- The backpack hinders the movement of the arms, and slightly affect the balancing.
- One of my big issues with this model kit is the ability to hold the weapons. The beam pistols can't be hold normally and the rear part of the pistol collides with the arm forcing it to hold the weapon in an odd angle. the only way to make them hold is to twist the arm to side and make it holding the pistol downward. Holding the Bazooka launcher can be tricky as it should be going under the arm to side of the kit then placing it into the holding hand.
Overall, the HGUC 1/144 Rick Dias despite being a very old kit with old articulation mechanics it still can attract some Gunpla builders, especially Zeta Gundam fans. my only complaint about this kit is its ability to hold the weapons.
